Speaker: Dr. James A. Parrott, Senior Director of Economic and Fiscal Policies, Center for New York City Affairs, New School
New York City was the first (and still the only) city to regulate the pay of Uber drivers, which was implemented in February 2019. Driver pay has increased by about $50 million per month without an appreciable increase in passenger fares. How has the pay standard affected the industry and what are the national implications of such a policy? Hear from Dr. Parrott, economist and public policy expert, as he discusses New York City’s regulatory approach to relieving congestion and improving driver pay.
