6/20/19 Two of our outstanding BA/MA graduates, Elizabet Shvets and Anjelica Gangaram, will enter Ph.D. programs in the Fall of 2019 at George Washington University and the University of Michigan, respectively. Read more about their accomplishments below:
Elizabet Shvets completed the BA/MA Economics program with a minor in Mathematics at Hunter College. She is passionate about health economics. Her work as a Research Assistant to faculty in the Department of Economics and her work in Maimonides Medical Center further focused her interest on quality of care, utilization, policy analysis, and industrial organization in healthcare. Elizabet was admitted to the PhD Health Policy Program at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. to begin Fall 2019. For her academic achievement Elizabet received a fellowship including a tuition scholarship award, living stipend, and health insurance coverage with a total value of about $260,000.
Anjelica Gangaram discovered Economics as a discipline at the beginning of her senior year at Hunter College. Before long, she was genuinely interested in economics and chose to enroll in the accelerated BA/MA program. Anjelica graduated from the BA/MA program in the spring of 2018, with her master’s thesis focusing on the rise of the maternal morbidity rate in the United States. Anjelica will be attending the PhD program in Health Services Organization and Policy at the University of Michigan this fall. Her program of study is fully funded and covers tuition and living expenses (an estimated monetary value of $250,000 for the duration of the program). Anjelica credits Professor Partha Deb for sparking her interest in Economics.
