About Us

The Department of Economics at Hunter College is home to a faculty that is dedicated to excellence in research and teaching. Most members of the faculty also hold appointments to the doctoral faculty in economics at CUNY's Graduate Center, the home of CUNY's Ph.D. program in economics. The department is also home to a faculty of accounting researchers and Hunter's accounting program.

The department offers three degrees in economics: the B.A., the M.A., and the B.A./M.A., an accelerated undergraduate-graduate program. Coursework for the economics degrees provides a strong foundation in economic theory and empirical economics. Graduates of the department's B.A./M.A. and M.A. programs are well-prepared to pursue a Ph.D. in economics or employment in business or government.

The department also offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in accounting. Coursework for the accounting degrees provides all the courses a student needs to sit for the Uniform CPA Examinations.
