Professor Sevak has extensive experience as a labor and public finance economist using survey data to conduct applied public policy research. She is currently the Associate Project Director on the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Individual Characteristics and Employment funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), a multi-institution Center, housed at Hunter and including researchers at Cornell, University of New Hampshire, Mathematica Policy Research, and the Center for Essential Management Services. Dr. Sevak has over 10 years of experience working on Social Security Administration funded research. She has been a researcher at the Michigan Retirement Research Center for over 10 years, which has supported a dozen of her projects on retirement and disability policy issues.
In addition to her appointment as an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at Hunter College, Professor Sevak is a Faculty Associate at the newly established Roosevelt House Institute for Public Policy at Hunter College. Roosevelt House opened in 2010 and reflects and intense interdisciplinary and financial commitment by the College to support applied public policy research and training.
