Sample Program

The details of prerequisites and co-requisites make it difficult for many students to plan a program of courses toward the combined B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics. To make the task easier, the Department recommends the following order of courses.

This program allows substantial flexibility regarding when to start taking the courses, how many economics courses to take each semester, and how many years to complete the degree. Two points are particularly important, however. First, mathematics requirements must be completed before taking any 300-level courses. Second, since ECO 701 and ECO 721 are co-requistes for other 700-level courses, students should plan to being taking 700-level courses in the fall.

Courses listed on the same line can be taken in any order, or at the same time. Note that ECO 701 and ECO 721 are offered only in the fall while ECO 703 and ECO 722 are offered only in the spring.
