Sample Program

The details of prerequisites and co-requisites make it difficult for many students to plan a program of courses toward the B.A. degree in economics. To make the task easier, the Department recommends the following order of courses, including two alternative tracks for completing the math requirement.

This program allows substantial flexibility regarding when to start taking the courses, how many economics courses to take each semester, and how many years to complete the degree. Two points are particularly important, however. First, mathematics requirements must be completed before taking some 300-level courses. Second, for students who plan to complete the degree in four years, ECO 300, 301 and 321 should be completed by semester 7.
